First - as a former president of NFAIS (2018) and a leader on the team that merged NISO with NFAIS, I'm super excited to be back here to see so many familiar faces and to make new friends. I'm literally ecstatics. Thanks so much to my former colleagues who kept the torch lit and put on the afterburners.

What do I do now? "I provide applied research and product management strategy services to clients in scholarly communications (#scholcomm) and organizations in media & the arts, investigative journalism and product design."

I'm the former sr. director of product management for Scopus (Elsevier). I left full-time scholcomm in late 2018 to pursue projects in arts and media that are centered around creative use of OSINT (open source intellegence) research. My work ranges from competitive and market intelligence, on one side of the spectrum, and privacy and OPSEC on the other. Clients range from fractional product management leadership at independent media groups such as McProjectz & pleasekillme.com (yes, that is safe for work), JaimeLevy.com, Supervert.com and geopolitical forecasting groups. On the #scholcomm and #scicomm side, recent projects have included work with AIPP.org and AAPT.org (I like physicists....).

When I have time, I volunteer for #osintforgood organizations hunting for missing persons, or more recently, working to identify bad guys on behalf of LEO (law enforcement) and IC (intelligence community) organizations.

Additional projects include the forthcoming OSINTARTS (examing both mainstream investigative technologies and tradecraft, to the farthest fringes of research-as-art. Heroes include Bellingcat.com, forensic-architecture.com and the artist Sophie Calle.
